Library services in several languages
There are three libraries in Sollentuna. The largest is the Sollentuna Library which is located close to the centre of Sollentuna. There are also libraries in Norrviken and Edsberg. In each of the libraries there are staff who speak English. Sollentuna LibraryAt Sollentuna Library there is a children's and youth section, an adult section and a reading room with daily newspapers from around the world. In the film corner you will find films for children and adults from different countries. Children and teenager’s sectionThe children and teenager’s section welcomes children and teenagers of all ages.
During the spring and autumn we have story time for children from 3 years of age. Adult sectionThe adult section is on the first floor of the library. Here you can search for books and information, read, study and meet in peace and quiet. The adult department has a large selection of fiction and non-fiction. In the foreign language section there are books in 20 languages. For those who like to listen to stories there are books on cassette, CD and MP3 in Swedish, English, French, Spanish and German. The adult section also has magazines in several languages; to borrow or read here in a comfortable chair. It is for everyone living in and around Edsberg but also for Edsberg’s school children. ContactAddress: Edsbergsskolan, Edsbergs torg 3, 192 53 Sollentuna Norrviken libraryWelcome to Norviken library which is also the school library. Our light and airy premises are at ground level in Norviken School. The library is easily accessible for wheelchair users or people with prams. Toilets with baby-changing tables are available. ContactAddress: Lindvägen 16 Library CardTo borrow books and other media from the library you must have a library card. Bring some form of identification and the staff will be happy to help you. Everyone from age 6 can get a library card and it is free. Adults must sign as guarantor for children. Log InWith your library card you also get a PIN-code. With the code you can log in to our website to check what you have borrowed and extend the loan period. You also need your PIN-code to reserve computers at Sollentuna library. Loan periodThe normal loan period for books is four weeks. Many new books have a two week loan period. During the summer the loan period is longer. For newspapers the loan period is two weeks. Reading difficultiesFor those who have reading difficulties the library has suitable media. Sollentuna library has the largest selection. There are easy reader books in simple Swedish for children and adults. We can also offer books with extra large print. Everyone can borrow easy reader books and books with large print. Talking BooksOur large selection of talking books, “talböcker”, is for those who have reading difficulties due to some form of impairment (as opposed to audio books “ljudböcker” which may be borrowed by anyone). Talking books are available in the digital format DAISY, on cd-rom and cassette. Home DeliveryIf you cannot get to the library due to some form of impairment then there is a service called Home Delivery, “Boken kommer”. We will deliver books to you at home. The Apple ShelfIn the children’s section of Sollentuna library there is the Apple Shelf “Äppelhyllan”. This is where we have placed all the books, films and cd-rom games for children with disabilities. Search for books and other mediaYou can see if we have the book, film or magazine you’re looking for in our media catalogue on the website. Write the title or author in the search box in the menu bar located top left and “click “sök”. If you click the link below call “Avancerad sök” you can be more specific in your search. You can also choose to use the media catalogue in English or Finnish. E-mediaE-media is electronic media which you can read or listen to on your computer. E-media are available in several formats: E-booksTake home to read on your PC or handheld. Most of the e-books are in Swedish. However, there is also a smaller selection in Danish and English. E-talking booksListen to them on your computer. You must be connected to the Internet when you are listening. Only available in Swedish. E-talking books with both sound and textYou can listen and read at the same time. So, listening can be good for reading practice. You must be connected to the Internet when you are listening. Only available in Swedish. Databases and E-magazinesWith your library card you can access many databases online, on various subjects- science, literature, news, magazines. The databases in english are marked with the british flag. Library services in several languagesThe International libraryThe International library is located at Odengatan 59, in Stockholm. The library is part of Stockholm’s city library. There are 200,000 books in more than 100 languages for both children and adults. Therefore, there are multilingual staff to help you. The Question library - OrdbronOn the Ordbron website you can ask questions in 12 different languages and get a reply from a librarian. You ask your question and receive your reply by email. You can ask anything you like. Ordbron is a collaboration by libraries all over Sweden. KioskenKiosken is a website where you can click further to 15,000 newspapers from more than 200 countries.
